I actually took these photos almost a year ago while working nights at an auto parts store. A customer arrived in this ultra-cool old VW bus. We talked about it quite a bit and I took these photos with my horrible cell phone, luckily they turned out fairly well. Continue reading “Cool 1960 VW Bus”
I posted photos of the UltraVan on Thursday night. Friday morning I received an email from Owen (who commented on the post) that he thought this UltraVan was possibly chassis number 538. That would mean that this UltraVan is a 1970 model, one of the last few UltraVans built, and is not fitted with the Corvair drivetrain but with a Corvette suspension, transaxle, and a 307 cubic inch Chevy V8! That is very interesting to a car nut like myself, but that is only the beginning of the story.
When I stopped to photograph the 66 Corvair I spotted this odd looking RV. The large emblems proclaim it to be an UltraVan, which of course I had never heard of. After a few seconds on Google it was clear that this was a far more interesting find than the fairly easy to locate Corvair.
I really hate to have to post this one, it really does hurt my eyes. But that is what this website is (mostly) about… the weird and wacky stuff on the street. So for your viewing pleasure I present a semi-donked formerly-classic GTO convertible.
