Wow. It was time for the Krispy Kreme cruise in again, and with the beautiful fall weather it did not disappoint. There were plenty of cars that I have not seen before in person. Unfortunately I wasn’t very well prepared and my camera batteries quickly gave out. But not before I got photos of some of the rarer vehicles there, like this beautiful 1956 DeSoto Firedome Convertible.
DeSoto was a Chrysler product, and the Fireflight and Firedome were their coupes. A similar Fireflight convertible paced the 1956 Indianapolis 500, and set record pace car speeds after lapping at over 100 mph with the President of DeSoto driving. Unfortunately for Chrysler the late 50’s DeSotos did not sell very well so the DeSotos that are still around are very rare, especially convertibles which were usually the most expensive models back then.
