I guess this Audi could be described as fireworks, but the others are just good old fashioned wrecks! Nothing is more American than some fabulous car crashes. I got these actual police photos from somewhere in Long Island, NY. I’ve got to find that website again…
Here’s the description for the DUI Audi: (ADUI?)
This two car accident happened Monday May 19, 2008 just before 11:00 pm on the Robert Moses Causeway. The two vehicles involved were heading south when one vehicle, an Audi rear-ended the other, a Nissan Pathfinder and flipped it over the guardrail into the northbound side of traffic. The second vehicle traveled a short distance more south and pulled to the shoulder where it caught fire in the engine compartment. It is believed the driver of the Audi was DUI. The driver of the Pathfinder was not seriously injured and was brought to Good Samaritan Hospital a short distance away with non life threatening injuries.
I’ll solve this one for them. The Excursion driver was either not paying attention or was drunk:
At about 1:20 am Thursday May 22, 2008 this serious auto accident took place at eastbound Sunrise Hwy. and N. Monroe Ave. in North Lindenhurst. It appears that a Black Ford Excursion rear-ended a Toyota Camry and partially ran it over knocking the driver of the Camry unconcious. A third car in front of the Camry was also damaged in the collision. The driver of the Camry was cut out of his vehicle with multiple extrication tools by the North Lindenhurst F.D. with assistance from the SCPD ESU in about twenty minutes. After he was removed the driver was flown to Stony Brook University Hospital by SCPD Helicopter with serious injuries. The other two drivers were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The cause of the accident is unknown at this time and is under investigation by the SCPD.
I don’t have the full story on this one but I remember part of it. This cruiser was stopped behind another accident, with all lights flashing. A DUI driver hit the back of the cruiser at speed. I believe the officer wasn’t in the car at the time and escaped injury. Hopefully Mr. DUI was dragged from his car, beaten, and left for dead. But I doubt that happened.
