It’s been a decade since I’ve seen one of these, and several decades since I’ve seen one this nice. The 1972 Ford Courier was a re-badged/re-grilled Mazda B-series pickup, a tradition that continues today as the Ford Ranger. As far as I can tell from the Interwebs this is either a 75 or 76 model based on the grille.
I actually talked to the owner of the repair shop and got some info on this one. The owner of the truck is an old guy who only puts about 1,000 miles a year on it. Every year he brings it in to have the carburetor worked on, probably due to fuel gumming up in it from lack of use.
It has clearly been given a fresh coat of red somewhere along the way, but otherwise it’s a clean survivor that has lived under cover for most of it’s life. As the generation between the Greatest Generation and the Vietnam generation passes away I suspect we will see a lot of 70’s machines come on the market that have been tucked away for years.
